JEREMIAH 1:5-7, LUKE 4:21-30
INTRODUCTION:
The Supt. Minister welcomed the congregation to the service of induction for new stewards. He thanked the outgoing stewards for their devoted services to the church and inducted the newly appointed officers into office.
The Supt. Minister dilated on the topic “Ordained to be a prophet” and admonished the new stewards that, per their designation—stewards—they had been appointed to manage and take care of properties that are not theirs. He intimated that stewardship in the Methodist Church means “God’s ownership or trusteeship” and “human caretakership or management.” It is a privilege to be called upon to serve as stewards in a great church, such as Mt. Olivet Society, but they should note that privileges go with responsibilities and that they should discharge their duties and deliver on their mandate.
POINTS:
Expanding the sermon, the Supt. Minister advised the new stewards and the entire congregation to note the following:
1. We should see our appointments to various positions as divinely initiated.
2. To be successful in our various engagements will depend on our reliance on God.
3. The Lord who has called you will empower you to do His work.
4. God does not call the qualified, rather, He qualifies those that He calls.
5. What God needs is your availability, and He will supply the resources for you to function effectively and efficiently.
6. It is God who has called, and it is our Christian duty to respond.
7. Your role is to serve in humility as stewards and not lord it over the congregation or members.
8. As stewards, you are not working alone – Collaborate with the Ministers to work for God.
9. We have a Ministry towards the Youth and Children so as to satisfy all the departments in the Church.
10. Evangelism is the heart of the church and stewards must endeavor to help the church engage in such activities.
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, the Superintendent Minister advised all members to be good stewards in their various fields of operations.
The Lord bless you and strengthen you to do His work. Amen.
